What does the role involve?

We can offer you the opportunity to work on a large variety of matters, a number of which are cross-border. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fulfil this position on a full time basis.

You will be involved in:

• Fund formation and structuring across a wide range of asset classes
• Advising on exchange traded funds (ETFs) and other listed investment vehicles
• Advising on financial services laws in connection with new and innovative products
• Disclosure obligations under the Corporations Act
• ASIC and regulator engagement
• AFS licensing and regulatory compliance
• Advising on governance arrangements, including directors' duties

On a day to day basis, you will have the chance to:

• Work in a team-based environment, working collaboratively, with the partners and other practice groups
• Prepare and negotiate investment fund formation documentation for retail and wholesale funds including constitutions, trust deeds, limited partnership deeds, management agreements, disclosure documents and side letters
• Advise on corporate and financial services laws impacting investment managers in Australia, including Australian Financial Services Licence regulation and registered managed investment schemes
• Assist global asset managers in navigating Australia's regulatory landscape
• Obtain advice from other K&L Gates offices for Australian investment management clients with overseas operations, in particular in the US, UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia
• Assist investment management clients with business transformational projects

About you

We are seeking a lawyer with 5-7+ years' experience in an investment funds or financial services practice area. Previous corporate experience would also be beneficial. You should be practical and proactive in your approach in addition to demonstrating strong problem solving skills and work well in a team. A high level of client service is expected as are excellent organisation, written and oral communication skills. This is a great opportunity for a senior financial services lawyer looking to take the next step in progressing their career.
