Job Description
About L.E.K. Consulting:
As a global strategy consulting firm, we work with some of the most innovative and successful organisations to solve their most critical business problems. Our achievements are fueled by a strong foundation of collaboration and a global community that embraces diverse individuals. Celebrated as one of the top workplaces in Professional Services by the Australian Financial Review, L.E.K. is renowned for fostering an environment where top talent excels. Established in 1983, our global footprint spans 27 offices worldwide, comprising a team of approximately 3000 professionals.
We are recruiting an Associate Consultant to join our dynamic and high-achieving team in either the Sydney or Melbourne office. This role suits candidates with 3-4 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, specifically corporate strategy and commercial and/or vendor due diligence.
The Associate Consultant Role:
The Associate Consultant is responsible for a broad work stream and will develop the hypothesis, structure the approach and lead junior team members. This role also requires the Associate Consultant to start building leadership skills and take on increasing responsibilities. Associate Consultants continue to play a crucial role in gathering, analysing and synthesising research and data to address the client’s core issues.
While casework needs will vary every day, the main responsibilities of an Associate Consultant include:
Designing primary and secondary research campaigns on markets, competitors, and customers through a variety of methods including surveys and one-on-one interviews.
Collaborating with project team members to derive trends, conclusions, and recommendations based upon the analysis. An Associate Consultant must transform what they have learned into thoughtful insights regarding the client's strategic direction.
Drafting the overall answer for a specific module by developing story lines and structuring the blank slides using a hypothesis-led approach.
Developing rigorous strategic and financial analysis that will be utilised to determine L.E.K.'s recommendation to the client. Examples include developing a spreadsheet model of market growth and competitor share, developing a valuation model for a company or product using discounted cash flow analysis, testing customer sensitivity to product attributes using adaptive conjoint analysis, or determining probability distributions of acquisition value.
Providing robust technical and commercial quality control to ensure logic and accuracy for modules under their command.
Leads capture of internal L.E.K. IP, managing junior associates in the creation of relevant materials.
Facilitates meetings and workshops one-on-one or with small groups of client staff
Managing and guiding junior associates work outputs (applicable for AC & SAC roles), coaching and transferring skills, offering constructive advice, and positively contributing to the workplace environment.
Why join L.E.K.?
In short, by joining L.E.K. you will develop your skills at a world-leading analytical strategy firm. A few of the things we are particularly proud of include:
Breadth of experience – Our expertise spans a diverse portfolio of cases in Strategy, Transactions, Organisation and Performance, as well as Major Capital Projects Advisory across a broad range of industries, including private equity, media & technology, industrials, energy, sustainability and decarbonisation, transport, healthcare, and consumer businesses

This setup is designed to maximise your learning potential, providing a dynamic environment for professional growth and skill enhancement
Professional development – L.E.K. is known for deep quantitative and qualitative analysis, and you will be supported to develop a strong analytical skillset, as well as to communicate your analysis in an easy-to-understand way. At L.E.K. we actively build your skills through our dedicated monthly Back to the Office Day (BTTOD). Every month one day is exclusively dedicated to fostering learning and growth, with each cohort benefiting from a thoughtfully crafted curriculum designed to enhance skills and knowledge throughout the year
Fun, stimulating work environment – L.E.K. teams spend substantially more time in their home office relative to other consulting firms, and we pride ourselves on a vibrant social culture facilitated through our various employee groups including the Ministry of Fun, Women in Business, the Community Engagement Committee, and more. Our collaborative culture also means you will work in close knit teams, where you will begin managing others within your first few years of work
What we look for:
The Associate Consultant role requires 3–4 years of experience in corporate strategy, gained within a strategy consulting firm and/or an in-house strategy function. Experience in commercial due diligence is highly desirable. Beyond academic accomplishments, we seek individuals who possess:
Highly motivated, creative, and entrepreneurial individuals with strong commercial acumen

Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring junior team members
Comfort with ambiguity and change
