Electrical Design Engineer – HV / MV Infrastructure

Your New Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer , you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical infrastructure projects across Queensland. Based in Hendra, Brisbane, you’ll work across both design and construction phases , ensuring practical, compliant, and high-quality engineering outcomes.

This role offers a strong blend of technical design and on-site project exposure , giving you end-to-end involvement in complex infrastructure works.

In this role, you will:

• Design and develop HV/LV systems including 11kV and 33kV networks, substations, switchgear and transformers
• Prepare SLDs, schematics, cable calculations and equipment layouts
• Conduct engineering studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and earthing analysis (ETAP)
• Design and review earthing systems in line with Australian Standards and utility requirements
• Develop technical specifications, reports and documentation
• Provide construction, testing and commissioning support
• Review civil/structural designs to identify constraints and ensure constructability
• Liaise with clients, utilities and multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in Safety in Design (SiD), QA processes and risk assessments
• Contribute to continuous improvement and design optimisation initiatives
  

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Progress towards RPEQ registration (or eligibility to apply)
• Experience in HV system design and underground distribution networks
• Strong knowledge of earthing systems, fault analysis and protection coordination
• Sound understanding of AS2067, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP and PowerCAD
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills
• High attention to detail with a quality-focused, solutions-driven mindset
• Ability to work collaboratively across design and construction teams
