I worked at Telstra full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great brand. Good work/life balance. Good salary

    Cons

During contractor conversion, contractors are automatically become band 2 while more experienced people are in lower salary bands. Very difficult to get a higher position unless you have a support from your manager It is really a hunger game in some areas Little to no help from middle management for Grads to get a band 2 position even after 4 / 5 years of service War between Ops and Engineering. Managers (Principals / GMs) from Ops think Engineering teams as their enemies (not all the GMs but most) Lots of free riders Permanent staff is doing actual project work but contactors get CAPEX codes from line managers to keep them in the company (higher management should see this issue) money is bleeding.

I worked at Telstra full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

A great big company to work for something that I would recommend for a lifetime work place to setting down into. Great work life balance, great managers that you can make friends with. Very supportive of work/life/family balance. Great pay for the type of work we did plus awesome paid leave/sick leave/company product benefits that help us save money and make our lives easier and more enjoyable. The online work is great,. Being able to help our customers with our products that make their life easier, simpler and more enjoyable, helping them over devices, from the convince of their own computers, laptops, mobiles, from any device that allows them to contact our support from any online social media platform, was truly rewarding. Why? Because both the customer and consultants are able to get the message across more clearly with useful helpful diagrams, more visual detail in the message to one another and confirm things verbally over the phone if required but after the right details have been clearly shown over a online media platform. This actually helps the verbal conversation over the phone for a human touch, personalizing the customer experience. So yes, the online working space actually is a really good "pro" as part of this big company. Highly recommended. Thanks The Green Dinosaur.

    Cons

No car parking - hint hint to any one in the company that has the power to organize this :) Note: this was a few years back now...they might have it available now.

I worked at Telstra full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexibility, work/life balance, respect, great team. People really did live the company values and things like D&I and being able to bring your true self to work were really valued.

    Cons

New roles were hard to come by and it seemed to be who you knew not what you knew. I left to get career growth outside of the organisation

I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have struggled with mental health for a long time and I have never worked for a company that has been nothing but 100% supportive and honestly wants to help not just to be a boxed ticked for diversity

    Cons

As we all know in just one year we have had a pandemic fires and floods besides the pandemic Australia lives through natural disasters all the time, Telstra needs to put together a more easy layout and approach for when these things arise
