Senior Backend Developer Melbourne, VIC | Fast-Growing Fintech Scale-Up

We’re preparing for scale, with a working prototype ready, and we need a Senior Backend Developer to help make it faster, more robust, and full of exciting features. This is your chance to join a small, high-performing, and collaborative team and have real impact from day one.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building robust backend systems
• Developing and maintaining REST APIs and integrations
• Leading system architecture discussions and ensuring scalability
• Mentoring and guiding other developers
• Collaborating with product and engineering teams to deliver key features
• Writing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code

Skills & Experience Essential

• 3+ years professional experience in backend development
• Strong experience with Python/Django or Golang
• Experience with system design and building scalable solutions
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Proven experience designing REST APIs
• Experience with version control
• Experience prioritising and mentoring other developers

Nice to have

• Startup experience (flexible, adaptable, thrives in change)
• Programming knowledge in other languages
• Exposure to GCP or Kubernetes
• CI/CD / DevOps experience
• Mobile or web development experience
• Familiarity with Scrum or Kanban
