Software Engineer – Core Java - High-performance tech meets high-speed trading 🚀

My client, a challenger Proprietary Trading firm, is looking for a Software Engineer to join their electronic trading team where technology isn’t just part of the business — it is the business.

In this role, you’ll help power an ultra-efficient global trading platform — the kind that makes lightning-fast decisions, crunches huge data sets, and thrives in one of the most competitive tech environments around.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and refining the core trading systems that keep the platform running at warp speed
• Delivering focused improvements that boost performance, stability, and profitability
• Diving into mission-critical projects across trading, pricing, risk, and analytics
• Working side-by-side with traders to translate ideas into real-time code magic
• Tuning performance to squeeze every last microsecond out of our systems

What You’ll Bring

• Core Java mastery (and bonus points for C++ or C#)
• Scripting chops — ideally in Python
• Previous Experience in high-frequency or low-latency trading environments!
• Confidence working across Windows and Linux
• Solid grasp of network protocols and system architecture
• Clear communicator who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments
• A strong academic foundation in Computer Science
• And, of course — a genuine curiosity about financial markets
• Existing visa eligibility to live and work in Australia (essential)
