Overview of this Role
The Project Manager – Learning Experience supports the delivery of high-quality, learner-centred digital education projects, with a strong emphasis on learning design. The role sits at the intersection of project management, UX/UI, and learning design, working with learning designers, developers, and clients to plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging online learning experiences across a variety of learning management systems and digital environments.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in learning design, instructional design, or online curriculum development who has also developed strong project coordination skills. Experience in digital education, higher education, or education content delivery will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and technology-savvy learning professional who can support the design and implementation of engaging online learning experiences, with particular attention to learner journeys, usability, accessibility, and visual consistency.
A. Project Management & Delivery
Coordinate and deliver multiple concurrent learning design projects to schedule, scope, and budget.
Define project goals, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with internal teams and clients.
Ensure learning design and user experience considerations are embedded from discovery through to delivery.
Manage risks, dependencies, and workflows to support smooth project execution, including design iterations, prototypes, and review cycles.
Track progress, document key milestones, and communicate updates clearly to stakeholders.
Support post-delivery review and continuous improvement of project processes.
B. Client Engagement
Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, acting as a reliable point of contact throughout project delivery.
Manage client expectations and maintain strong alignment between educational intent, delivery constraints, and project outcomes.
Communicate project plans, timelines, and progress updates effectively.
Schedule and coordinate tasks and actions with clients and internal stakeholders.
Anticipate client needs and work proactively to ensure satisfaction and smooth delivery.
C. Technology-driven midset
Use tools such as Jira to manage projects and deliverables in real time and support reporting to senior management.
Work confidently across digital learning tools, project tracking systems, and collaboration platforms.
Bring a practical understanding of digital workflows and the learning design process into project planning and execution.
Contribute to a forward-looking, technology-enabled approach to learning experience delivery.
D. Learning Experience Coordination
Support the design and development of engaging, learner-centred experiences within learning management systems such as Moodle, Canvas, and Brightspace.
Review page layouts, interaction patterns, and navigation flows for usability and accessibility.
Help ensure projects reflect best practices in accessibility, inclusivity, UX heuristics, and learning design.
Liaise with clients and subject matter experts to clarify requirements and maintain strong alignment between educational intent and delivery.
E. Collaboration & Team Support
Work closely with learning designers, developers, and media specialists to ensure alignment between learning outcomes, content, and technology.
Translate learning design requirements, UX feedback, and project specifications into clear tasks and timelines for the team.
Foster clear communication and teamwork across distributed teams and time zones.
Contribute to a positive and collaborative project culture that values curiosity, creativity, and accountability.
F. Commercial Awareness
Support the preparation of project budgets and proposals as required.
Track resourcing, hours, and project costs to support profitability and efficiency.
Identify and raise risks or opportunities for improvement across projects.
Skills and Qualifications
Background in learning design, instructional design, educational design, or online curriculum development is highly desirable.
Experience coordinating digital learning projects, ideally within higher education, education services, or a similar environment.
Understanding of learning design principles, learner-centred design practices, and digital pedagogy.
Exposure to UX/UI workflows such as wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, or design review is highly regarded.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, subject matter experts, and internal teams.
Excellent organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills.
High-level problem-solving ability with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
Familiarity with learning management systems and digital education technologies.
Experience using collaboration or design tools such as Jira, Figma, Miro, Adobe XD, or similar is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment across distributed locations and time zones.
Desirable Experience
Experience in higher education, online learning, or education publishing.
Exposure to digital agency environments or content production workflows.
Understanding of accessibility, inclusive design, and learner engagement best practice.
Experience supporting multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
